Melrose has been my home for more than 35 years, and I enjoy serving this vibrant community.
As a family man and father of a seventeen-year-old, I see both challenges as well as opportunities for our city and want to focus my energies on steering the course for the future.
I chose to move into Melrose shortly after college because of the great location, accessible downtown, and small-town atmosphere. The evolution of Melrose from a “hidden gem” to one of the most desired places to live in the greater Boston area has been an incredible event to witness. There are challenges that the city continues to face, including increasing demands on the school system, aging infrastructure, traffic safety and appropriate housing development, all which require careful oversight of funding and prioritization.
My career has given me the skills required to be an effective city councilor, including leadership, strong listening skills, summarizing diverse issues, finding common ground in negotiations, mastering complex financial and budgetary arrangements, and providing clear communications. Additionally, as a member of the community that lives an active lifestyle, I accomplish the “tasks unseen” including communicating with the city administration on our street and sidewalk conditions, parks and trees management, and safety matters that impact the residents.
I’m once again seeking the Ward 3 City Councilor position to make a difference in the community. Experience, initiative and passion are qualities I will contribute to the City Council, as well as the commitment to work diligently on difficult issues. I pledge to be transparent, to communicate clearly and frequently, be accessible and represent the interests of the people of Ward 3.
Over the next several months, I will be visiting with my Ward 3 neighbors, hearing ideas and concerns about Melrose, and sharing my thoughts about how we can continue to improve our city.
I look forward to meeting my neighbors in Ward 3 and to earning your vote on November 4th, 2025.

Policy Areas of Interest
fiscal responsibility and override question
I will help Ward 3 residents understand the override question in detail, the impact that passing or not passing the override will have on the fiscal condition of the city, and how I will handle each situation in my position as City Councilor. Additional areas that I will be focused on include:
Maintaining a constrained operational annual budget, regardless of the outcome of the override, targeting critical areas including school, police, fire, infrastructure and safety.
The investment request that is being made of the community for the public services buildings
Smart spending of the capital budget beyond the debt exclusion
Impact of federal and state funding decisions
Prudence and accountability will be critical to assure that Melrose will be effective in maintaining a prioritized budget, addressing the demands of various departments, and continuing to keep a strong bond rating. I will be pushing for r measurable outcomes for funded programs and initiatives.
advocating for education
The value of a strong education within our community is one of the most important drivers and maintaining a school system that provides quality education to our children is of highest priority.
Always fully supporting a strong school budget, even in challenging circumstances of limited funding.
Working collaboratively with the school committee to understand their decisions on the school budget and provide constructive feedback.
Supporting neighborhood schools. Ward 3 redistricting now includes the Lincoln School as part of the ward.
business development
A robust business infrastructure within the city provides local jobs, increases tax revenues, and provides a better standard of living. There are many ways to improve upon the commercial interests in Melrose and I support efforts to bring in new business. I have supported a number of businesses that have opened in the past several years, including Santa Fe, Big Tuna, Hannah’s Brewery, Tenoch Mexican, Colette Bakery and the new management at the Melrose Diner.
collaboration and COmmunication
I am accessible, transparent and communicative to all residents of Ward Three. I respond to common themes that are recurring within the neighborhood and am the voice to reach the local administration for facilitating issues, questions and needs in the community, with an emphasis on safety, the elderly and special needs. I will be available through multiple channels, including email, website and phone.
infrastructure
Melrose’s aging infrastructure will continue to be a high priority topic for years to come. I have advocated for several streets in Ward 3 to be repaired or made safer, including having the crossing beacon light installed near Bob’s Convenience on West Wyoming Ave, a four-way stop sign a the corner of Baxter & Whittier, the restructuring of the Prospect/Poplar intersection to slow traffic, the reconfiguration of the West Emerson/Vinton Street intersection and additional stop sign at the Tremont/Essex Street intersection, and several other smaller initiatives. I believe it is important to address and improve current conditions of our infrastructure, and communicate with the administration to share plans, finance strategies, and timelines for infrastructure improvements. I will continue to work with city administration to find additional safety measures and develop a robust response protocol for when our infrastructure fails, and ask that this protocol be shared with the public.
Our Neighborhood
Ward Three is a unique part of Melrose and I am excited to keep the beauty while modernizing our ability to get around safely. Traffic safety, road conditions and parking are all issues I have continue to hear about in our neighborhood and will require my ongoing attention as Alderman.
I will represent the local neighborhood community in expressing concerns regarding the Beebe School transition to a police station.
As an avid cyclist, I want to provide safe access to the roads in Melrose for all modes of transportation without compromising safety. One of the attractiveness of the town is its ‘walkability’ and I will strive to maintain safe pedestrian access across Ward Three and toward downtown.
